As cotton can often be prone to shrinking when it is washed and dried, it is recommended to check the individual care label for each piece and follow the instructions carefully. When it comes to cleaning cotton and cotton-blend materials, it is recommended to use a lower temperature wash at 30°C or below. Colored cotton garments should be turned inside out before washing. Before allowing to air dry naturally, cotton can be gently stretched when they come out of the wash to restore shape.
Lace is a beautiful yet delicate fabric, and will need to be cleaned properly to prolong its life. If your lace becomes stained, it will need to be cleaned quickly as stains can stick to the lace fibres permanently if left untreated for too long. We advise hand washing your lace garment in warm water, unless specified on the item’s care label. Work the soapy water into the fabric, and leave to soak for around 30 minutes. Rinse well, and press out excess water. Avoid rubbing the lace fabric, instead use a gentle plunging action to remove any dirt or stains. Lay flat and allow to dry naturally, before folding and storing in a drawer. It is advised to avoid using the washing machine to clean lace, but if it is required to remove tough stains, always use a gentle wash cycle and place in a laundry bag to protect against damage.
Few fabrics feel as luxurious as silk, and in order to keep it in its original condition for longer, we recommend carefully following the care instructions found on each individual item’s label. Some silk products are strictly dry clean only, while others can be hand washed or machine washed on a gentle, cold-water cycle. If your silk is suitable for hand washing, use lukewarm water and a specific, mild detergent to help protect the silk’s natural properties. Avoid spot cleaning silk, as rubbing in only one area can cause the material to lighten in just that spot. Avoid putting in the tumble dryer and instead lay flat to dry naturally. If you need to clean in the machine, first place in a laundry bag, select a delicate, cold-water cycle and remove promptly once the cycle has finished to reduce wrinkles. If the care label on your silk item says that it can be ironed, then use a low iron setting and ideally iron while it is still slightly damp.
