The Men's UGG Boots Buying Guide

Now adored for their rough functionality, UGG boots were first brought to the forefront of the lifestyle marked by Brian Smith in the 70s. Smith saw the opportunity to bring Australian sheepskin boots to Californian coastal surfing communities, marking the birth of a whole new obsession. UGGs became a global trend in 2000 with an appealing carefree style. Men's UGG boots remain iconic casual statements. Crafted from luxury leather, sheepskin and suede, UGG uses the finest of materials to deliver practical, comfortable and stylish boots.

Renowned for being the brand behind the iconic sheepskin boot, UGG continues to build on its reputation with new styles that blend form with function. From desert boots and chukkas, to all-weather styles and updated versions of the plush Classic Collection, UGG’s wide range of men’s boots has something to suit every style and preference. Read on for our men’s UGG boots buying guide, which will help you narrow down the styles that work best for you, figure out your most comfortable size and find out how to care for your shoes properly.

How To Care For Your UGG Boots

Rejuvenate your favorite UGG boots and ensure they stay looking their best by following these simple cleaning steps:

- Remove any dirt by gently brushing the surface of your boots

- Use a clean, damp sponge to dampen the surface, and then apply a small amount of UGG Cleaner & Conditioner.

- Gently scrub, before removing any residue with the sponge.

- To maintain shape, stuff boots with paper towels

- Allow boots to dry naturally for 24 hours away from direct heat and sunlight.

- Once dry, brush with a suede brush in a single direction to restore original appearance.

To keep your UGG boots looking new, the brand advises protecting them with UGG Protector. Clean your boots prior to application, and spray evenly until the surface is wet but not soaked. Leave to dry naturally, and then brush with a suede brush.

Are UGG boots ethical?

UGG only selects suppliers who meet strict standards of ethical sourcing, including animal welfare. The brand requires all suppliers treat animals humanely and believes that no sheep should ever be raised for their sheepskin alone.

UGG also understands that mulesing is cruel and inhumane and all suppliers must certify that the sheepskin comes from sheep which have not been mulesed. UGG only accepts Merino wool from certified non-mulesed or ceased-mulesed wool sourcing.

Are UGG boots vegan?

UGG boots are not vegan, as they are made from animal materials such as rich leather and Grade A sheepskin.

Which UGG boots are waterproof?

There are many UGG boots that are designed to keep your feet dry and comfortable in the rain, including the brand’s Butte and Hendren styles. The brand creates specific waterproof versions of its UGG classic mini sheepskin-lined boots, which are made from treated burnished suede and feature a protective seam-sealed construction.

UGG Biltmore Chelsea boots, as well as Harkland, Neuland, Biltmore and Harkley casual boots are all waterproof.
