British heritage brand Burberry was founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry. Aged just 21 at the time, Burberry had trained as a draper's apprentice. The label became popular for its outerwear, introducing the hardwearing gabardine fabric in 1880, which was used to make the very first iconic Burberry trench coat. Since then, the label has grown to international proportions. Burberry still offers up essentials, crafted with luxury and practicality in mind. This includes a line of lightweight cardigans and plush ponchos.
