Giorgio Armani was born in Piacenza, Italy in 1934. After studying medicine at the University of Milan, and serving in the Italian army, Armani found a job as a window dresser. He went on to design menswear for Nino Cerruti before opening his own design office in partnership with architectural draftsman Sergio Galeotti.
