As cotton lacks natural anti-bacterial and odor-resistant properties, it requires more frequent washing. As cotton is prone to shrinkage, it’s best to clean in water that is 30°C or below. Colored cotton garments should be turned inside out before washing. Allow to air dry naturally.
Lace is a delicate and elegant fabric, which often requires special care to keep it looking its best for years to come. If your lace becomes stained, it will need to be cleaned quickly as stains can stick to the lace fibres permanently if left untreated for too long. We recommend hand washing lace items in cold water with a delicate detergent. Let the lace soak for roughly 30 minutes, before rinsing with water to wash away any remaining soap. Rinse well to remove soap, and then press gently to remove any excess water. Avoid rubbing the lace fabric, instead use a gentle plunging action to remove any dirt or stains. Do not tumble dry or wring out, as lace should be dried flat away from direct sunlight. If you do decide to clean lace in the washing machine using a gentle wash cycle, it is advised to first place it in a laundry bag to protect it from getting damaged.
Few fabrics feel as luxurious as silk, and in order to keep it in its original condition for longer, we recommend carefully following the care instructions found on each individual item’s label. Some silk is ‘Dry Clean Only’, while other items may have ‘Dry Clean’ as the recommended cleaning method, but other methods may be used. It is advised to clean silk using a lower temperature to other fabrics, as hot water can affect the material’s natural properties and damage to the fibres. We also recommend selecting a specially-formulated silk detergent, which will be gentler on its natural proteins. Turn the item inside out, and soak for up to 30 minutes, then rinse with cool water to remove any remaining soap. Silk should not be tumble dried, and instead can be laid flat to dry naturally. If you need to clean in the machine, first place in a laundry bag, select a delicate, cold-water cycle and remove promptly once the cycle has finished to reduce wrinkles. If the care label on your silk item says that it can be ironed, then use a low iron setting and ideally iron while it is still slightly damp.
