Function and fashion are fused together in Max Mara's collection of coats The range comprises everything from universally flattering camel coats that look good on everyone, to navy peacoats, black trenches and more casual zip-up styles that you’ll get years and years of wear out of.

Expect Max Mara's coats to be made from materials like fur, cotton and wool, to ensure they meet the demands of cold and wet weather. For formal occasions, opt for one of Max Mara's coats in black, navy or grey. Casualwear calls for styles such as the peacoat or duffle.

Wool is a soft, natural fibre that can be prone to shrinking if not cared for properly. To maintain the super-soft feel and luxurious feel of your wool garment, we recommend following the instructions on each garment’s care label. If your wool item is structured, such as a blazer, suit, or coat, then we recommend to spot clean. Some wool is suitable for machine washing, once it has been turned inside out and put on a 30°C gentle cycle. To minimize the risk of shrinkage, it is advised to soak in cold water before you put in the machine. The heat from the tumble dryer can also shrink your garment, so it is best to lay wool flat and allow to air dry away from sunlight and radiators. To ensure a silky, smooth appearance to your wool garment, iron inside-out on a low temperature setting, ideally when it is still damp.

Before cleaning leather, we recommend removing any large pieces of dirt and dust by dry cleaning with a soft brush. Persistent stains can be removed with a specialist leather cleaner. Although a leather protector won't safeguard leather from all abrasions, creases, and scuff marks, it is an extra step to take to ensure the leather ages well. A specialist leather wax and cream can be applied to bring back shine when needed.

Whether your garment is cotton or cotton-blend, there is the possibility that it may shrink if not properly cared for. Cotton can sometimes be prone to shrinking when it is washed and dried, and to prevent this happening it is recommended to use water that is 30°C or below, either by hand or in the washing machine. This will help avoid colour fading and dye transfer. Before allowing to air dry naturally, cotton can be gently stretched when they come out of the wash to restore shape.

Fur that has been cared for will last for years, and we would advise getting it properly cleaned yearly by a professional. However, there are also steps that you can take to help maintain the fur. If the fur gets slightly wet; shake out to remove as much water as possible. Allow to dry in a well-ventilated room, away from any direct heat. Once dry, fluff the fur and smooth with your hand. To maintain the finish, you can steam to remove wrinkles, odor and bacteria. Do not iron fur, as it may burn and cause irreparable damage. Regularly brush with a cashmere brush to rejuvenate the fur’s natural oils and remove lint and hair. When storing your fur, it is recommended to keep it at a temperature of around 50°C with approximate 50% humidity. Store in a breathable cotton bag, on a broad-shouldered hanger and away from light.
