Women's Metallic Aries Astrology Necklace In 9ct Gold

  • Details

In the Ancient Greek tale, Aries was the magical ram with the Golden Fleece who rescued two children, Phrixos and Helle, from their murderous stepmother, Ino. As he flew across the sea between Europe and Asia, Helle fell into the water which became known as Hellespont. His fleece was later stolen by Jason and the Argonauts. The pendant takes the form of a circle, which the Ancient Greeks considered the most geometrically perfect shape. It holds a cluster of the stars, accurately forming the constellation, which is held suspended in space by delicate wire. The chain is a rope chain, reminiscent of both the sailors who have used these stars to navigate through the centuries and our coiling strands of DNA. The Astrology Collection is inspired by the way our knowledge of science is interwoven with the enduring legacy of the classical myths. For me, the two are inextricably linked, thus creating both our personal identities, and the stories which form our cultural DNA. Even solid gold can become tarnished over time, if this happens the most simple way to restore the necklace is to use Gold Dip, taking care to keep the clasp dry. A polishing cloth may be used on the pendant but is not recommended for the chain as fibres may become caught and pulling the chain repetitively may weaken it. Color: metallic
