Gold farthing coin necklace by Chupi. Cast from an original Irish farthing coin from the 1940's that Chupi found in her grandmother's sewing box, this is a little reminder you are worth your weight in gold. In the early 1920's the first Irish coins were designed by a committee headed by the legendary poet W.B. Yeats. Renowned artist Percy Metcalfe was commissioned to design a series of beautiful coins inspired by Irish wildlife. When Chupi was little she loved coins, particularly the beautiful old Irish coins with their illustrations of the birds, deer and salmon. This coin is illustrated with a Woodcock, one of the most common birds in the West of Ireland. Individually hand crafted in our studio in Dublin and hallmarked in Ireland's historic Dublin Castle Our jewellery is designed to be worn and loved. These simple tips will help keep your Chupi piece at it's very best. A gentle clean with a soft 100% cotton cloth is ideal for maintaining your jewellery's shine. Try to not wear your jewellery in the shower or pool as the chlorine will tarnish it. Apply any perfume, body lotion or creams and let dry before you put on your jewellery. For the best care, store your jewellery in a little airtight bag in the box it came in when not being worn to minimise tarnish. To clean your jewellery grab a small bowl, pour in hot water, some gentle soap and stir. Place your jewellery in the solution for 1 minute, rinse with clean water, then polish with a soft 100% cotton cloth and pat completely dry. Sterling silver pieces can be cleaned using any of the commercially availble solutions, we prefer the non chemical ones. Gold fill refers to a process in which gold is mechanincally bonded to a base metal, producing a thicker layer than even the heaviest gold plating. Our chain, clasps & ear hooks are all gold filled. Our gold plated pieces are heavily plated in 18k gold over solid sterling silver. The gold layer will eventually wear off. When it does, it can be re-plated at a nominal cost through any jewellers or we would be happy to do it for you. Color: metallic
